The Marcialonga on road bypass the Alps and opens to the Worldloppet Cycling Races

Marcialonga, what an emotion! The beautiful images of the 6.500 cross-country skiers who have given birth to the 37th edition of the popular race are still alive in our eyes.
But now it is time to look forward to the next sport event organised by this committee and that will take place on May 30th: the Marcialonga Cycling.
It will be the 4th edition of the bicycle race on road that will cross three different provinces, Trento, Bolzano and Belluno in two different regions, Trentino Alto Adige/Südtirol and Veneto. Different places and cultures but with the same landscape: the Dolomites.
More than 200 bikers have already registered in the 2010 edition that is going to repeat the two courses of 80 km with a total climb of 1.894 metres and a 18,2% of max climb and the toughest of 135 km, 3.279 metres of TC and a 19,2% of MC.
And since last year the Marcialonga Cycling is expanding the horizons with the new project “Worldloppet Cycling Races” a sort of get-together of the Worldloppet skiing races that are also holding bicycle and off-road competitions, for a common work and a mutual promotion that could be more manageable with benefits for each member and especially for competitors. Seven are the organising committees involved in this new initiative: Marcialonga in Italy, Tartu Rattarally & Rattamaraton in Estonia, Cyclo Patria Direct Jizerska 50 in Czech Republic, Dolomiten Radrundfahrt in Austria, Birkebeiner Rittet in Norway, Cykelvasan in Sweden and the Audax Alpine Classic down-under in Australia.
